Channa
Masala Indian Curry
INGREDIENTS
Serves 6-8
3 cup chick peas or 3 cans garbanzo beans
2 tablespoon oil
1 cup tomatoes, chopped
1 cup onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger, chopped or paste
1 teaspoon garlic, chopped or paste
2 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped (opt)
3 tablespoon channa/chole masala powder
Salt to taste.
DIRECTIONS
In a small bowl, make a paste of masala powder w/ 3 tablespoon
water and set aside.
Heat oil in a large pan/wok and add onion and sauté until
soft and brown (5 min).
Add garlic and ginger and sauté 2 min more.
Add spice paste and sauté until mix becomes dry (3 min).
Add tomatoes and sauté for 3-4 min.
Add chick peas and simmer for 5 min.
Taste for salt.
After removing pan, cool and add one tablespoon of lime juice.
Transfer to dish and garnish with coriander leaves/cilantro and
onion pieces.
Serve with hot rice or with any Indian bread, pita or tortilla.
